A polyurethane column footing is the polyurethane base piece at the lower end of the column shaft that connects the shaft to the floor. Acting as a base, it forms a profiled, stepped transition between the shaft and the floor and completes the column's seating line. In decorative column applications it is fitted beneath the shaft. The polyurethane material is lightweight and is applied with adhesive and dowels; it resists moisture, frost and impact, does not crack or swell and can be painted. It is far lighter than a stone footing and installs faster; it is also unaffected in the damp area near the floor.
