polyurethane column base

A polyurethane column base is the polyurethane base piece placed at the lower end of the column shaft that seats the shaft on the floor. It forms a stepped, profiled transition between the shaft and the floor and completes the lower termination of the column. In decorative column arrangements it is mounted beneath the shaft. The polyurethane material is lightweight and is applied with adhesive and dowels; it resists moisture, frost and impact, does not crack or swell and can be painted. It is far lighter than a stone base and installs faster; it is also unaffected in the damp zone near the floor. Because it is cast in a mould, the profile and section detail repeat identically on every piece. Polure produces column bases in various diameter and height options to match the shaft.
