column base plinth

A column base plinth is the polyurethane base piece that seats at the lower end of a column shaft and connects it to the floor. It serves the same function as the column footing and is used to emphasise the area where the column meets the floor. The polyurethane base is lightweight and applied with installation adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Being lighter than a stone or gypsum base, it can be carried and installed by a single person. Polure produces the column base plinth in different sizes matched to the shaft diameter using moulds, with the profile detail repeating identically on every piece.
