Decorative column and column capital is the component in which the column shaft and the capital piece sitting on top of the shaft are considered together. The column capital completes the transition between the shaft and the ceiling or arch and, in Doric, Ionic or Corinthian form, defines the column's character. Indoors they are used in living rooms and transition areas, and outdoors on entrance and arcade columns together. The polyurethane column and capital are light; the parts join with construction adhesive and can be built over an existing column. The material resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or peel, and can be painted; they offer easier transport and installation than marble sets.
