A classic column cap is the polyurethane capital part at the very top of a classical column that completes the shaft and gives the look of a connection to the structure above. It seats on top of the column shaft; acting as the capital and crown, it forms the upper finish of the column. It is used as the top piece in decorative column applications both indoors and outdoors. The polyurethane material is light and applied with construction adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted.
