Decorative Polyurethane Column Base and Capital Design

The P5250D is a premium polyurethane architectural column component designed to serve as a robust base or capital for large-scale pillars. Ideal for both interior and exterior applications, this structural embellishment brings clean classical proportions to grand entrances, porticos, and upscale commercial lobbies. It acts as the perfect grounding element for round columns, establishing a sense of stability and architectural completeness.

Measuring 700x700x315 mm, this substantial component is engineered for columns with a large diameter. Crafted from high-density rigid material with a density range of 150-220 kg/m³, it offers the structural hardness of traditional wood without the associated vulnerabilities. Its closed-cell structure guarantees a water absorption rate of under 1%, ensuring that the element remains highly resistant to moisture, rain, or frost; dimensional stability has been tested between -20 °C and +70 °C.

Visually, the model features a sophisticated, stepped concentric profile. The design transitions smoothly from a wide, flared lower torus molding into a clean cylindrical core, capped with a stepped upper fillet. This minimalist yet powerful Tuscan-inspired geometry allows it to blend seamlessly into neoclassical, colonial, or modern classic architectural styles, highlighting clean lines and geometric symmetry rather than overly ornate carvings.

The application range of this versatile column base is extensive. It is frequently specified for luxury villa facades, hotel porticos, wedding halls, and spacious restaurant interiors. Because of its lightweight nature compared to heavy stone or precast concrete, it is also highly favored in historical restoration projects where reducing additional structural load on older foundations is critical.

Installation is remarkably straightforward. The component is secured using a high-quality polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive combined with mandatory mechanical screw fastening to ensure permanent stability. The surface comes pre-treated with a factory-applied primer, preparing it for immediate painting. However, because paint manufacturers typically require their own specific primers to honor their warranties, applying an additional primer layer remains optional and at the discretion of the installer. Polure does not assume liability for paint finishes.

Choosing this advanced material over traditional plaster, gypsum, or timber reduces the risk of cracking, chipping, and insect damage. The P5250D provides a durable, low-maintenance, and visually imposing architectural solution that maintains its pristine form for decades.
