Polyurethane Decorative Column Base and Capital Model

The P5220D is a premium architectural element designed to function as a decorative column base or capital, providing an authentic transition for structural or ornamental pillars. Engineered for both interior and exterior installations, this component bridges classical styling with high-performance modern materials. Whether utilized in upscale residential entrances or commercial facades, it offers an efficient and durable alternative to heavy stone or fragile plaster castings.

Fabricated from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-220 kg/m³), this product matches the structural hardness of traditional wood while remaining remarkably lightweight. With dimensions of 284x284x124 mm, it fits medium-scale pillars perfectly. The closed-cell structure guarantees a water absorption rate of under 1%, preventing rot, swelling, and fungal growth. It remains dimensionally stable across a wide temperature spectrum from -20 °C / +70 °C, ensuring it will not warp or crack over time.

Visually, the P5220D exhibits a refined, stepped circular profile. The design flows smoothly from a wider upper rim down to a recessed collar, resting on a clean, rounded base ring. This symmetrical geometry reflects classical Doric and Tuscan architectural orders, providing a balanced, grounded aesthetic. The surface is treated with a factory-applied primer, offering a smooth, uniform surface that is ready for custom painting.

This versatile component is widely specified for luxury villa entrances, hotel lobbies, wedding venues, and garden pergolas. It can cap a decorative pilaster indoors or serve as the base support for exterior porch columns. When painted with UV-resistant coatings, it withstands harsh outdoor weather, maintaining its crisp details and structural integrity against intense sunlight and heavy rain.

Installation is straightforward and secure. The component is mounted using a high-quality polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive; silicone adhesives must be avoided. For safety and long-term stability, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory. Once fixed, joint lines and screw heads are filled with exterior mastic, sanded with 180-220 grit sandpaper, and coated with paint. Unlike plaster, which is prone to chipping, or timber, which attracts insects, this polyurethane solution delivers a low-maintenance, long-lasting finish.
