Architectural Space Division and Light Play with Dekupe Panel
In modern European architecture and interior design, defining spaces without blocking light or airflow is a constant creative challenge. The Dekupe Panel collection offers an innovative solution by blending intricate cutout patterns with advanced material science. Derived from the concept of openwork or ajoure design, these panels feature precision-cut geometric and organic lattices that interact dynamically with natural and artificial light. By casting intricate shadow patterns, they add structural depth and a sophisticated visual layer to residential and commercial environments alike.
Unlike traditional plaster openwork which is extremely fragile and heavy, or MDF panels that warp under humidity, our Dekupe Panel series is manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane (PU) with a closed-cell structural matrix. This technical composition ensures a highly durable, lightweight, and versatile architectural element that meets the strict demands of contemporary construction and design standards.
Technical Specifications and Material Performance
Specifying materials for premium projects requires absolute certainty regarding performance. The Dekupe Panel range is engineered to deliver outstanding physical characteristics:
- Density and Hardness: With a density of 150-200 kg/m³, these panels offer a wood-like surface hardness while remaining exceptionally lightweight, making them easy to handle and install at high elevations.
- Thermal and Environmental Stability: Operating perfectly within a temperature range of -20°C to +80°C, the material maintains its shape without warping, shrinking, or expanding.
- Moisture Resistance: Boasting a water absorption rate of under 1%, the closed-cell structure makes the panels immune to rot, mold, and humidity damage.
- Fire Behavior: The material is self-extinguishing, meaning it stops burning once the external flame source is removed, adding an extra layer of safety to interior installations.
Versatile Product Portfolio for Diverse Projects
Our collection features a wide array of patterns suitable for varying design aesthetics, from classical heritage restorations to minimalist contemporary projects. Models like the P3003 bring refined, clean lines to modern residential lounges, while the P3002 offers three-dimensional depth that animates plain wall surfaces. For large-scale architectural projects, the P3004 and P3004A series provide continuous patterns with heights reaching up to 2880 mm, allowing for seamless vertical installations. This high-density poliüretan dekupe panel offers unmatched structural reliability for premium spaces.
For more compact decorative accents or localized partitions, options such as the P312020 and P36060 provide high detail definition without sacrificing structural integrity. These units are perfect for integrated furniture detailing, custom radiator grilles, or decorative ceiling panels.
Finishing and Paint Customization Guidelines
Every Dekupe Panel is delivered with a high-quality factory-applied primer (primer) that prepares the surface for final painting. This smooth layer is compatible with both water-based and synthetic topcoats, allowing designers to match any corporate color scheme or interior palette. However, to ensure optimal adhesion and durability, paint manufacturers typically require the use of their own proprietary primers before applying the final topcoat. Therefore, the application of an additional primer is optional and remains at the customer's discretion. Please note that Polure does not provide paint warranties or accept liability for third-party coating performance.
For outdoor applications, raw, unpainted polyurethane is susceptible to UV discoloration (yellowing) over time. Consequently, coating the panels with a high-grade, UV-resistant exterior paint is mandatory to preserve their appearance and structural longevity.
Usage Areas
The Dekupe Panel series offers exceptional versatility across a wide range of interior and exterior architectural applications. In premium interior design, these panels serve as elegant room dividers and partition walls (separators) in open-plan offices, luxury hotel lobbies, and upscale restaurants, allowing light to pass through while defining distinct functional zones. They are frequently used as decorative wall panel accents behind media consoles, custom headboards in boutique bedrooms, or as sophisticated suspended ceiling inserts with integrated backlighting. Due to their moisture resistance of under 1% water absorption, they can be safely specified for high-humidity areas like luxury spas, indoor pool lounges, and modern bathrooms. For exterior applications, these panels add architectural interest to building envelopes. They are utilized as decorative infills for balcony railings, ornamental screens within window jamb assemblies, or as artistic panels framing grand entrance portals. When used outdoors, applying a UV-resistant exterior paint is mandatory to prevent yellowing and ensure long-term color stability.
Installation
Achieving a flawless, professional finish with the Dekupe Panel requires adhering to systematic installation protocols: 1. Surface Preparation: Ensure the installation surface is completely clean, dry, and structurally sound. 2. Cutting: Measure and cut the panels using a fine-toothed saw or CNC equipment. For corner joints, execute precise 45-degree miter cuts. 3. Adhesive Application: Apply a high-strength polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive along the back contact points of the panel. Do not use silicone adhesives, as they do not provide the necessary long-term bond strength for high-density polymers. 4. Mechanical Fastening: Secure the panel mechanically to the wall or frame using screws. Mechanical fixing with screws is mandatory to ensure structural safety while the adhesive cures. 5. Seamless Jointing: Fill all screw holes, joints, and seam lines with a high-quality joint putty (use exterior-grade putty for outdoor installations). 6. Sanding: Once the putty is completely dry, sand the filled areas smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper. 7. Painting: Apply an optional primer matching your paint manufacturer's system, followed by two coats of premium water-based or synthetic paint. For exterior installations, a UV-resistant paint is mandatory.
Care Information
Maintaining the pristine appearance of high-density Dekupe Panel installations is exceptionally straightforward due to the material's superior physical properties. Thanks to their closed-cell structure and antistaticity, these panels do not attract dust or absorb moisture. For routine interior cleaning, a gentle dusting with a soft microfibre cloth or a vacuum cleaner equipped with a soft brush attachment is sufficient to clean the intricate cutout patterns. If necessary, the panels can be wiped down with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemical solvents, thinners, or abrasive cleaning agents, as these can degrade the paint finish. Since the panels boast a water absorption rate under 1%, they are fully washable and will not warp, rot, or swell when exposed to water, making them highly hygienic and easy to maintain in commercial or wellness environments.
