Surface Preparation and Coating Guidelines
Every fluted pilaster column is delivered from the factory with a high-quality matte white primer coating designed to optimize surface adhesion for subsequent finishes. This factory-applied primer prepares the surface for the application of water-based or synthetic paints. However, because paint formulations vary widely, paint manufacturers typically do not guarantee adhesion or longevity unless their own proprietary primers are used first. Consequently, applying an additional primer coat prior to final painting is optional and remains at the sole discretion of the client. For all outdoor installations, the application of a high-quality, UV-resistant exterior paint is mandatory to prevent the underlying material from yellowing over time.

Installation
Successful installation of the Fluted Pilaster Column requires systematic preparation and specific materials. First, ensure the mounting wall surface is completely clean, dry, and structurally sound. Measure and mark the vertical layout using a laser level. When cutting the pilaster shaft, capitals, or bases, use a standard miter saw set to a 45-degree angle for precise joints. Apply a high-quality polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive generously to the rear mounting channels of the profile. Do not use silicone adhesives under any circumstances, as they lack the chemical bond required for long-term adhesion. Mechanical fastening is mandatory; secure the pilaster to the wall using screws at regular intervals. Once the adhesive has cured, fill all screw holes and joint seams with a durable exterior-grade filler. Sand these areas smooth using 180-220 grit sandpaper, apply an optional primer coat if desired, and finish with two coats of premium paint.
Care Information
Polyurethane architectural elements require very little maintenance over their exceptionally long lifespan. For regular interior care, dusting with a soft brush or wiping with a slightly damp microfiber cloth is sufficient to keep the flutes clean. Avoid using harsh chemical solvents, abrasive cleaners, or high-pressure washers, as these can degrade the protective paint coating. If the surface becomes stained or if you wish to update the interior color scheme after several years, the pilasters can easily be lightly sanded and recoated with any high-quality water-based paint.
