A decorative pilaster capital is a polyurethane capital piece that sits on the upper part of a pilaster and completes the shaft. Placed at the top of wall-mounted pilasters, it forms the transition between the pilaster shaft and the ceiling or cornice. In classical architecture it is produced in different motifs according to the Doric, Ionic, or Corinthian orders. Polyurethane is lightweight and applied directly with construction adhesive; unlike a stone capital it adds no structural load. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack or blister, and can be painted. Because it is moulded, the capital details repeat identically on every piece.
