Ionic Capital

The ionic capital is a polyurethane column capital from the classical Ionic order, recognised by the volute (spiral) ornaments curling on either side, placed at the top of the column. It is used above columns and pilasters to complete the load-bearing appearance of the column. Polyurethane is lightweight; it is applied to the column shaft with mounting adhesive, resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted. Being lighter than its stone and plaster equivalent, it is easy to install at height. Because it is mould-cast, the volute curves repeat identically on every piece. Polure produces the ionic capital in sizes suitable for different column diameters.
