While the factory primer provides an excellent foundation, please note that paint manufacturers generally do not guarantee their coatings unless applied over their own proprietary primers; therefore, the application of an additional primer coat remains optional and is entirely at the customer's discretion. Because raw, unpainted polymer is susceptible to gradual yellowing under direct ultraviolet exposure, applying a high-quality, UV-resistant exterior paint is mandatory for all outdoor installations. When properly coated, the columns resist the harsh effects of solar radiation, freeze-thaw cycles, and driving rain, maintaining their pristine appearance for decades without requiring the constant sealing or crack repairs associated with natural stone or concrete pillars.

Shaft diameters, lengths and piece logic

A column is specified as three items: shaft, capital and base. Shafts run from Ø10 to Ø30 cm at a standard 240 cm length (260 cm in the twisted range) and are supplied either full round or as two half shells for cladding existing piers.

Load path and cladding tolerance

Polyurethane columns are decorative: they carry no structural load. Where a load exists it is taken by an internal steel frame and the column encloses it; concrete is not poured inside. When cladding an existing pier, the specified inner diameter must exceed the widest measured point of the pier so the half shells close on the vertical joints. In steel structures, expansion joints are sealed with elastic mastic so movement is not transferred to the cladding.
