Decorative Polyurethane Fluted Column Shaft Model

The P5830 high-density polyurethane fluted column shaft is engineered to bring grand neoclassical architecture and vertical elegance to premium interior and exterior designs. Drawing inspiration from classical Greek and Roman pillars, this architectural element utilizes vertical grooving to draw the eye upward, effectively heightening the perceived scale of any room or entryway. It serves as an ideal decorative component for projects requiring authentic historical detailing combined with the performance of modern materials.

Manufactured with a substantial diameter of 300 mm and a height of 2400 mm, the P5830 shaft is perfectly proportioned for large-scale residential and commercial settings. It is molded from rigid polyurethane with a density of 150-220 kg/m³, providing a durable, impact-resistant surface comparable to hardwood while remaining lightweight and easy to handle. Featuring a closed-cell structural composition with less than 1% water absorption, this material is highly resistant to moisture, rot, warping, and insect infestations, offering unmatched durability compared to traditional wood or plaster.

The visual appeal of this column shaft lies in its precisely molded fluted (kanellü) surface. The deep, symmetrical vertical grooves capture light and shadow dynamically, highlighting the column's cylindrical form and adding architectural depth. The top-down profile reveals a hollow, scalloped interior, allowing the shaft to function beautifully as a decorative wrap around structural steel columns, concrete pillars, or utility conduits, seamlessly concealing raw construction elements under a refined classical facade.

This versatile column shaft is widely implemented in luxury hotel lobbies, reception halls, wedding venues, veranda supports, and residential porticos. It is designed to be paired with matching classical capitals (such as Ionic, Corinthian, or Doric styles) and bases to construct a complete, cohesive pillar assembly. Whether defining boundaries in an open-concept interior or framing a grand entrance on a coastal villa facade, it delivers a high-impact aesthetic statement.

Installation is straightforward using standard woodworking tools. The shaft is bonded using polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive and must be secured mechanically with screws for structural safety. After filling joint lines and screw heads with an exterior-grade acrylic filler, the surface should be sanded with 180-220 grit paper. The product features a factory-applied primer; however, applying an additional compatible primer is optional and depends on paint manufacturer specifications. Finishing requires two coats of high-quality paint, with UV-resistant coatings being mandatory for all outdoor applications to prevent yellowing.
