above-door decor
Above-door decor is the general name for the polyurethane decorative piece placed on the upper part of a door. With crown, pediment, arch or profiled transition elements, it emphasises the upper section of the door entrance. It is used at interior and exterior door entrances where a classical or neoclassical look is wanted. The polyurethane material is light and applies directly with assembly adhesive and screws; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell and can be painted. Being lighter than plaster makes above-door installation easier, and unlike wood it is unaffected by moisture. Because it is mould-cast, the profile and motif details repeat identically on every piece. Polure produces above-door decor pieces in a range of forms and sizes.
