Can this curved archway moulding be used on exterior facades?

Yes, the product is fully compatible with outdoor applications. Made from high-density rigid polyurethane, it features a closed-cell structure with less than 1% water absorption, making it resistant to rain, snow, and rot. However, because raw polyurethane can yellow when exposed to sunlight, applying a UV-resistant exterior paint is mandatory for outdoor installations to ensure long-term color stability.

What is the benefit of polyurethane compared to traditional plaster or wood arches?

Polyurethane offers a lightweight alternative to heavy plaster or stone, drastically reducing structural load and simplifying installation. Unlike wood or MDF, it does not warp, crack, rot, or attract insects when exposed to moisture. It retains crisp, detailed profiles over its entire lifespan and can be easily sanded, patched, and painted.

Does the archway moulding come pre-painted or primed?

The archway is delivered with a factory-applied matte white primer coat, which prepares the smooth surface for painting. While this factory primer provides an excellent base, paint manufacturers often require their own specific primers to guarantee their paint's adhesion. Therefore, applying an additional primer layer is optional and left to the installer's discretion.

How do I glue and secure this product during installation?

For a secure and permanent bond, you must use a polyurethane (PU) assembly adhesive. Do not use standard silicone adhesives, as they do not provide the necessary structural bond. In addition to the adhesive, mechanical fastening with screws is mandatory to hold the heavy-profile arch in place while the adhesive cures.

Can I customize the color of this arch trim?

Yes, the surface is fully paintable. After installation and sealing the joints, you can paint the archway using any high-quality water-based or synthetic paint to match your design scheme. For interior projects, standard latex or acrylic paints work perfectly, while exterior projects require UV-rated coatings.
