Polyurethane Spiral Column Shaft for Facades and Interiors

The P5820C column shaft is a premium architectural element engineered to introduce striking vertical movement and classical grandeur to high-end building designs. Featuring a carefully crafted spiral (helix) pattern, this decorative shaft plays beautifully with natural light and shadow, creating a dynamic visual flow. It serves as an excellent choice for architects and designers looking to achieve historical elegance with modern, high-performance materials.

With precise dimensions of 200x200x2600 mm (20 cm diameter and 2.6 meters in height), this product is perfectly proportioned for grand entryways, high-ceilinged residential halls, and commercial facades. Manufactured from high-density rigid polyurethane (150-220 kg/m³), it offers a solid, wood-like hardness while remaining remarkably lightweight. Its closed-cell structure ensures water absorption is below 1%, preventing any risk of rot, swelling, or mold, and its dimensional stability has been tested between -20 °C and +70 °C.

The visual appeal of the P5820C lies in its smooth, uniform helical grooves that wrap seamlessly around the cylindrical core. The top of the shaft is finished with a clean, unadorned collar that transitions smoothly into cap elements. Unlike heavy concrete or fragile plaster alternatives, this lightweight solution prevents unnecessary structural loads on the building's foundation while delivering identical luxury aesthetics.

This versatile shaft is highly adaptable for both interior styling and exterior facade applications. It can be used to frame residential entrance portals, decorate hotel lobbies, or add character to covered verandas and patios. Additionally, the shaft can be cut lengthwise to wrap around existing load-bearing steel or concrete pillars, instantly converting structural necessities into elegant design features.

Installation is straightforward and cost-efficient. The process involves preparing a clean, dry surface, applying polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive (avoid silicone), and securing the component mechanically with screws, which is mandatory for safety. Once fixed, joint lines and screw heads are covered with quality filler, sanded with 180-220 grit paper, and finished with two coats of paint. For outdoor applications, finishing with a UV-resistant paint is required to prevent yellowing over time.

The product arrives with a factory-applied white primer layer to prepare the surface. While this primer simplifies the painting process, paint manufacturers often require their own specific primers to honor their paint warranties; therefore, an additional primer coat remains optional and at the discretion of the installer. Polure does not guarantee paint performance on its products.
