A decorative ceiling beam is a hollow profiled polyurethane element used to give the ceiling the look of a wooden or stone beam. Used alone or arranged at intervals, it is applied to give the ceiling a rustic, country, or classic character. It is preferred for decorative purposes on living room, restaurant, and villa ceilings. Being hollow, it is far lighter than a real wooden beam; it is slipped onto a load-bearing substructure prepared on the ceiling and fixed with adhesive or screws. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack or blister, and the wood grain can be emphasised by painting. As it is mould-cast, the wood texture and beam profile are identical on every piece.
