A polyurethane door surround is a decorative element made of polyurethane that wraps around a door opening, framing both sides and the top. It is used around interior and exterior doors to create a frame for the door opening and emphasise the wall transition. Polyurethane is lightweight and is applied directly to the wall with mounting adhesive; because it adds no weight, it needs no additional support. It resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and can be painted after priming to match the colour of the room. Compared with stone or plaster surrounds it is lighter and faster to install, and unlike wood it is not affected by moisture.
