A polyurethane column is a polyurethane decorative element made of a shaft, capital and base that has the appearance of a vertical support. It is generally decorative and is used to clad an existing column or to create a vertical accent on a facade. It is preferred at entrance facades, in living rooms and in columned arrangements. The polyurethane material is lightweight and is applied with adhesive and dowels; it resists moisture, frost and impact, does not crack or swell and can be painted. It is far lighter than stone or concrete; it can be carried by one person and installs faster. The shaft is usually produced as two half pieces and slid around an existing column. Because it is cast in moulds, the fluting and capital details stay consistent on every piece. Polure produces columns in various diameter and height options.
