classic column base

A classic column base is the polyurethane part at the very bottom of a classical-style column that carries the shaft and rests on the floor. It forms the section where the column meets the ground; it raises and balances the shaft, giving the column a settled, grounded look. It is used as the base in decorative column applications both indoors and outdoors. The polyurethane material is light and easy to apply with construction adhesive and screws; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted in any colour. Because it is lighter than its plaster or wooden equivalent, one person can carry and install it. Since it is mould-cast, the profile and chamfer details repeat identically on every piece.
