The P5015WP pilaster column offers a refined architectural element designed to frame doorways, fireplaces, and accent walls with classical symmetry. Measuring 150 mm in width and 2400 mm in height, this flat decorative column mimics traditional masonry pillars without the structural weight. It serves as an excellent vertical anchor, visually raising low ceilings and defining open-concept spaces with subtle sophistication.
Engineered from high-density rigid polymer with a density of 150-220 kg/m³, this premium component matches the hardness of real wood while offering superior resistance to environmental wear. With low water absorption and a temperature stability range from -100 °C / +80 °C, the material is resistant to rotting, warping, and insect damage. The 31 mm profile depth provides a distinct three-dimensional projection without obstructing walkways or interior pathways.
Visually, the P5015WP features a clean, recessed rectangular panel motif running vertically along its smooth surface. This minimalist inset detail provides a balanced shadow line that complements both neoclassical and transitional interiors. Delivered with a factory-applied primer, the surface is perfectly prepared for finishing paints, allowing designers to match or contrast the columns with existing wall moldings and architraves effortlessly.
Highly versatile in application, this flat column profile is equally suited for interior accentuation and exterior facade embellishments. In residential settings, it is commonly paired with capital and base moldings to frame grand entryways, bedroom headboards, or luxury TV backdrops. In commercial projects, such as boutique hotels, restaurants, and lobbies, it serves as a durable wall division panel that withstands high-traffic impacts.
Compared to heavy plaster or moisture-sensitive MDF, this lightweight polyurethane alternative installs rapidly with minimal labor. Mounting involves securing the clean, dry profile with a high-quality polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive and reinforcing it mechanically with screws. After filling the joints with acrylic putty and performing a light sanding, the column can be coated with any water-based or synthetic paint. For outdoor installations, applying a UV-resistant topcoat is mandatory to protect the structure from solar yellowing.
- This flat pilaster column is engineered for diverse decorative applications across both residential and commercial projects
- Indoors, use it to frame grand doorways, library bookshelves, fireplace surrounds, or to create a structured panel layout on long dining room walls
- It is highly effective in hotel lobbies, reception areas, and upscale restaurants to break up expansive walls and add structural rhythm
- When painted with a high-quality UV-resistant exterior paint, it is also perfect for outdoor facade styling, such as framing entrance gates, windows, and porticos on classical-style villas
- Ensure the installation surface is dry, clean, and level
- Cut the pilaster to the desired height using a fine-toothed saw at a precise angle if joining with capitals or bases
- Apply a continuous bead of polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive to the back of the profile
- Press firmly against the wall and secure mechanically with screws or finishing nails for a secure hold while the adhesive cures
- Fill all joint lines and screw holes with a suitable acrylic joint filler or polyurethane-compatible putty
- Once dry, sand the filled areas with 180-220 grit sandpaper to achieve a seamless finish
- Apply a premium topcoat paint (water-based or synthetic) to complete the installation
- For interior applications, simply wipe the smooth surface periodically with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust
- If necessary, a mild, non-abrasive household detergent can be used; avoid harsh solvents or acidic cleaners
- For exterior facades, the columns can be washed down with low-pressure water
- We recommend inspecting the paint finish annually on outdoor installations and applying a fresh protective UV-resistant topcoat as needed to maintain color vibrancy and weather resistance
Can the P5015WP pilaster column be used on exterior building facades?
Yes, the P5015WP is fully suitable for outdoor use. Made from closed-cell rigid polymer, it has low water absorption (below 1%) and resists extreme weather (-100 °C / +80 °C). However, you must apply a UV-resistant exterior paint to protect the material from sun damage and prevent yellowing.
Do I need to apply an extra primer before painting this column?
The product comes pre-treated with a high-quality factory primer that prepares the surface for painting. However, paint manufacturers typically do not guarantee adhesion unless their own recommended primer is used. Therefore, applying an additional primer is optional and depends on your preferred paint system's guidelines.
How does this polyurethane pilaster compare to traditional plaster or wood?
Unlike plaster, this material is extremely lightweight and shatterproof, preventing cracks during shipping and installation. Assess water and moisture exposure using the product technical data, surface finish and installation details.
What adhesive should be used for installing this flat column?
You must use a dedicated polyurethane (PU) mounting adhesive for bonding. Standard silicone adhesives do not provide the necessary structural bond and should be avoided. Mechanical fastening with screws is also required to ensure long-term stability.
Can the height of the pilaster be adjusted?
Yes, the 2400 mm length can easily be trimmed to your exact project requirements using a standard hand saw or miter saw. The material cuts cleanly without chipping or splintering, allowing for seamless integration with custom plinths, bases, or capitals.
