A decorative smooth column is a polyurethane decorative column with a plain, fluteless body and no relief detailing. It is used in entrances, living rooms, hallways and façades to clad load-bearing columns or as a free-standing decorative element to divide a space. It is usually applied together with a capital and base. The polyurethane material is light and sets easily with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell, and takes paint. Being far lighter than a stone or wood column, it can be carried and installed by one person, holds no water and keeps its shape. The smooth surface gives a clean, even finish once painted.
