round arch

A round arch is the most common arch type in architecture, closing the top of an opening with a semicircular curve. It is used at door, window, passage, and niche openings; this form, which distributes the wall load along the curve, gives the space an orderly, circular appearance. It appears in both classic and plain designs. Round arches made from polyurethane are lightweight and mount easily and quickly. They resist moisture and impact, do not crack or swell, and can be painted in any colour. Being much lighter than stone or plaster arches, they reduce labour and handling loads.
