above-door arch ornament

An above-door arch ornament is a polyurethane decorative element applied onto, or emphasising, the arch above a door. With pieces such as a keystone, rosette, palmette or leaf motif, it adds ornament to the crown and side points of the arch. It is used at interior and exterior door entrances to complete a classical arched look. The polyurethane material is light and applies directly with assembly adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack or swell and can be painted. Being lighter than plaster makes above-door installation easier, and unlike wood it is unaffected by moisture. Because it is mould-cast, the motif details repeat identically on every piece.
