classic column base
A classic column base is a polyurethane base part placed at the foot of a classic column, connecting the shaft to the floor. It is used to complete the column's classic proportion and finish the transition between the shaft and the floor neatly. The polyurethane material is lightweight and applied directly with mounting adhesive; it resists moisture and impact, does not crack, swell or warp, and can be painted. It is much lighter than a stone or plaster base and, unlike timber, is not affected by moisture. Because each piece is mould-cast, the profile details repeat identically across every unit. Polure produces the classic column base in sizes suited to various shaft diameters.
